This collection includes general information and documents related to a variety of publications created and published by Elon University. The publications themselves are not represented in this collection, only information about them. The collection is arranged alphabetically by the title of the publication. Within each publication title, folders are arranged chronologically and then alphabetically by type of material. Please refer to the section below titled "Detailed Description of the Collection" for more information about what is included.

Biographical / Historical

Included below is general information about the publication titles represented in this collection. At Elon According to the 2012 At Elon website, "The At Elon online newsletter is published three times per semester by the Office of University Relations to inform, entertain and engage faculty and staff at Elon University." It existed as a print newsletter from February 1999-December 2009. The first online only issue was February 2010. This publication was formally known as Second Monday. The Elon College Monthly The Elon College Monthly was first published in June 1891 and it marked the debut of the first medium for student expression at Elon College. The publication included articles and personal items written by students and included a few advertisements. It was published by the three Literary Societies at Elon: the Philologian Society, the Psiphelian Society, and the Clio Society. Fact Book According to the 2012 Fact Book website, "The Fact Books and the information within are designed specifically by each institution to contain relevant data, both historical and current." The first Fact Book was published in 1990. Magazine of Elon The Magazine of Elon is the current alumni publication of Elon University. The Elon alumni publication has changed names over time including: The Elon Alumni Voice (1928-1930); Elon Alumni News (1937-1962); Elon College Alumni News (1963-April 1974); The Magazine of Elon (July 1974-present). Phi Psi Cli The Phi Psi Cli is the Elon University yearbook. It is named after the three original Literary Societies at Elon: the Philologian Society, the Psiphelian Society, and the Clio Society. The yearbook was first published in 1913. Second Monday Second Monday was first published in September 1984. It served as the official Elon College personnel newsletter, and was published monthly with some exceptions. December 1998 was the last printed issue of Second Monday. The title was changed to At Elon in February 1999. Student Handbook According to the 2012 Elon Student Handbook website, it is a publication that is published by the Division of Student Life. "The Student Handbook contains critical information associated with student conduct as well as information regarding campus policies and regulations. The Student Handbook also contains helpful information and links to information regarding campus resources and student life, student organizations, student services, and campus events." The Student Handbook was first published at Elon in 1922 and was at one time known as "The Red Book."
