Biographical / Historical
The Elon Teaching Fellows Program is a model for the preparation of teaching leaders and scholars who contribute significantly to the quality of birth-12 education and who are influential in decision-making on the local, state, national and international levels. Through an increasingly complex four-year experience, this program prepares future teachers to think critically and embrace diversity, lead within and beyond the classroom, and participate meaningfully in a global society.
Elon Teaching Fellows have the option to obtain North Carolina teacher licensure in at least one of the following programs offered through the Teacher Education Program in the School of Education: early childhood education, elementary education, middle grades education and special education, in special subject areas for grades K-12 (physical and health education, music and Spanish), and in high school subject areas of English, history, mathematics and science.
The Elon Teaching Fellows program was created in 1987, and is still ongoing.
