Biographical / Historical
Since the College's beginning, the honor code has become significantly more lenient. In Elon's beginning, women were unable to walk through town unaccompanied, and there were strict curfews for men and women which persisted through the 1960's and into the 1970's. Towards the end of the 20th century students were given more freedom in regards to the downtime around campus, though academic policies have stayed largely similar over the last fifty years.
