Scope and Contents
This is a collection of materials that were published about various colleges and schools that were related to the Christian Church, the Congregational Church, the Congregational Christian Church, or the United Church of Christ. The majority of the institutions are located in the United States, although there is some international representation. The institution most heavily represented is Franklinton Christian College, located in Franklinton, North Carolina. These materials date from 1858 to 1998, with the majority of items being from the 1930s and 1940s. Documents include (but are not limited to) certificates of incorporation, constitution and by-laws, financial documents, newspaper clippings, reports and meeting minutes, and general histories. Another well-represented institution is Catawba College, located in Salisbury, North Carolina. These materials date from 1969 to 1976 and include fliers, programs, and the Campus Journal. Junto Academy, located between Orange and Alamance Counties, North Carolina, has materials dated 1836 to 1841. These items include certificates of incorporation, a map of the area, newspaper clippings, and general histories. The remaining institutions represented in this collection have one or two folders for each which cover a variety of dates and include materials such as correspondences, newspaper clippings, booklets, brochures, and general histories.
