Abstract

The Elon Art Collections, a composite of seven distinct individual collections, symbolizes the lasting legacy of friends and alumni of Elon University. Assembled through bequeathment, gift, or generously reduced purchase, the Elon Art Collections represent more than simple aesthetic embellishment for the campus; they are physical manifestations of the university’s commitment to experiential learning. Whether utilized in the classroom to accentuate or illustrate instruction, used by students to express complex ideas, employed to demonstrate curatorial and registrarial best practice or displayed for community engagement, the Elon Art Collections present a unique opportunity to not just to learn but establish a connection with the unknown.

The collection is arranged alphabetically and then chronologically by type of material.

The collection is located in the Carol Grotnes Belk Library Archives and Special Collections at Elon University. Please contact the Archivist and Special Collections Librarian for further details about the location.
