Abstract

This collection includes materials that relate to various local and national academic honor societies at Elon University. The materials date back to 1929, and continue to present day. The honor societies represent what currently exists at Elon, and what existed in the past (and may no longer be active on campus). Examples of items included in the collection are budgets, programs, newspaper clippings, announcements, constitutions, correspondences, and much more. Listed below are the names and definitions of the academic honor societies included in this collection. Alpha Epsilon Rho--The National Broadcasting Society,Alpha Kappa Psi--Professional Business Fraternity,Alpha Psi Omega--National Theater Honor Society,Beta Beta Beta (Tri-Beta)--National Biological Honor Society,Gamma Theta Epsilon--International Geographic Honor Society,Kappa Delta Pi--International Honor Society in Education,Kappa Mu Epsilon--Mathematics Honor Society,Lambda Pi Eta--National Communication Association,Nu Lambda,Omicron Delta Epsilon--International Economics Honor Society,Omicron Delta Kappa--National Leadership Honor Society,Phi Alpha Theta--National History Honor Society,Phi Eta Sigma--American Freshman Honor Society,hi Kappa Phi--Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (recognizes and encourages superior scholarship without restriction as to area of study and to promote the unity and democracy of education),Pi Delta Phi--National French Honor Society,Pi Gamma Mu--International Honor Society in Social Sciences,Pi Sigma Alpha--National Political Science Honor Society,Psi Chi--International Honor Society in Psychology,Sigma Delta Chi--Society of Professional Journalists,Sigma Delta Pi--National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society,Theta Alpha Kappa--National Honor Society for Religious Studies and Theology.
