Biographical / Historical

The NCSL was founded in 1937 and it is the oldest active student legislature in the country. This organization represents North Carolina colleges, universities, and community colleges and offers students a hands-on experience in the legislative process and politics. Members of the Elon delegation write bills, present resolutions for presentations at statewide meetings, and study current issues under the leadership of a central government. The staff and Student Governor carry out all action plans at statewide meetings, which encompasses delegates from all institutions with NCSL chapters. The bills that are passed at statewide meetings are made available to the members of the NCSL General Assembly.
