This collection consists of moving images/video created primarily by Elon University organization, partners, and affiliates. The materials document social, cultural, and academic events, activities, people, and traditions of Elon University. Formats include, but are not limited to; VHS, DVDs, reel to reel, U-matic, mini DV’s, DVCAM’s, external hard drives, and born-digital content.

Biographical / Historical

This collection consists of moving image materials created primarily by various units and departments on campus including University Communications, Teaching and Learning Technologies, and student media groups. On occasion Elon hired companies and individuals’ not affiliated with Elon to capture video. The majority of the content document social, cultural, and academic events, people, organizations, activities, and traditions of Elon University. There are a wide variety of formats; from reel to reel, u-matic, VHS, Beta, DVD, to born-digital, and many more. Topics and themes found in the collection include: commencements, convocations, baccalaureate, college coffee, staff appreciation day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Move-in day, call to honor, dance and performances, Enamons, Gospel Choir, Step Show, service learning, sustainability, study abroad, Black Excellence Awards, buildings and construction, groundbreakings, animal blessings, Habitat for Humanity, Phi Beta Kappa, Medallion ceremonies, alumni and reunions, chapel, Ever Elon, Founder’s Day, faculty/staff awards, greek life, football, tennis, basketball, baseball, Sports Hall of Fame, and general athletics. The entire Elon: Past, Present, and Future course taught by Dr. Danieley is also included here. Student media television shows are also represented, such as Elon Current Events, Elon Sports, Elon in Review, Elon Magazine, Elon News Now, Elon Newsbreak, Elon Sports Talk, Elon This Week, Elon Today, Elon Tonight, Win Stuff, Touchdown Phoenix Football, the Elon Review, the Extra Mile, Straight Talk, and the Phoenix 14 People, groups, and organizations include: Isabella Cannon, leadership fellows, Christopher Gergen, Jim Hunt, Richard McBride, Richard D’Amato, Dan Wright, Linda Niedziela, Tony Crider, Richard Haworth, Sandra Day O’Conno, Jonathan Kozol, David McCullough, Mac Lewis, Mike Foreman, Allen Gant, Tim O’Brien, Dr. Danieley, Tim Barber, Jerry Tolley, Jim Keady, Marc Basnight, Richard Greene, Kevin Kline, Bruinger, Gross, Jess Clendenning, NC Campus Compact, United Church of Christ, Jim Melvin, William Ruddiman, Alamance Citizens for Education, Spencer Johnson, Brian Williams, Phi Kappa Phi, Leo Lambert, Fred Young, and Elon Academy.
