This collection contains letters sent to Richard Wade McPherson between the years 1920 and 1921. Letters mostly came from Elsie Boggs and contained details about her life at Elon, but McPherson also received letters from Thomas Griffin, Paramalee Crotts and Verna.

Biographical / Historical
Richard Wade McPherson was born on 28 May, 1903 in Alamance County, North Carolina to Caleb McPherson and Deborah Prior McPherson. He had three siblings, all sisters, Dora Nancy, Beatrice Maud and Mabel. None of his sisters married or had children. Richard married Elsie Boggs on 21 July, 1922, and they had two children together, Sidney Lawrence, and Harold Wade. Richard and Elsie lived in Snow Camp, Alamance, North Carolina and were dairy farmers. He died on the 13 June, 1975 in Alamance County, North Carolina from hypertensive cardiovascular disease. His wife Elsie Boggs survived him until her death in 1989. Elsie Dean Boggs was born on 5 September, 1902 in Alamance County, North Carolina. Her parents and siblings are unknown. She attended Elon University for one year in 1921-1922. She married Richard Wade McPherson on 21 July, 1922, and they had two children together, Sidney Lawrence, and Harold Wade. She lived in Snow Camp her entire life, and she died there on 26 March, 1989.
